1. ORGANIZERS
The Cortinametraggio Festival – is organized by the Cortinametraggio Cultural Association, and is subsidized by Public Entities and Private Sponsors.
2. DATE AND DURATION
The 20th edition of the Cortinametraggio Festival will be held in Cortina from March 17 to 23, 2025, in dual mode, live and streaming.
3. FESTIVAL SECTIONS
The festival has two sections:
- Short Film Section
- International section dedicated to Portugal
4. SHORT FILM SELECTION
The two sections concern narrative shorts (fiction) of Italian and Portuguese nationality, of any genre (horror, thriller, science fiction, crime, drama, comedy, etc.), not exceeding 20 minutes in length, for the Italian section, produced from 2024 through 2025, for the Portuguese section, produced from 2024 through 2025. The selection of films is made by and at the sole discretion of the artistic director of the festival.
In the case of selection, the submission of the screening media (DCP files) and the material requested in point 6. must reach the festival no later than February 21, 2025.
The festival’s management will appoint a Jury composed of qualified people, chosen from professionals in the cinema world – directors, actors, journalists, film critics, producers, distributors – to award the cash prize to the best absolute short film, as well as to the best actor and actress, and the audience prize will be awarded as a result of the vote of the audience present in the theatre.
5. MATERIAL REQUIRED FOR ENTRY
All works submitted to the festival must be accompanied by the following materials:
- Project sheet (Project information, Submitter information, Credits, Specifications, Screenings / Distributions) duly completed (under penalty of exclusion from the selection) via the FilmFreeway platform;
6. SELECTED FILMS – ALL COMPETITION CATEGORIES
Selected films should send supplementary material when contacted by the festival’s management.
Selected films from all competition sections will be screened during the Cortinametraggio Festival days at the venues designated for the event in Cortina D’Ampezzo.
7. FILM SCREENINGS
The schedule and times of the screenings are determined by the festival’s management, which will publish a general catalogue of the submitted works.
Selected works will be screened in DCP format (alternative format H.264), to be sent upon the explicit request of the festival’s management by the dates that will be defined after the announcement of the competing works.

Winners agree to mention the awarding of the various prizes at every opportunity and in all forms of publicity releases.
Cash prizes are understood to be gross of the 25% withholding tax pursuant to Art. 30, Paragraph 2 of Presidential Decree 600/73.
